In this course, students investigate and understand basic concepts of geography, including geographic tools, physical and human geography, earth’s surface, human population patterns, and human interaction, and learn to apply them locally, nationally and globally.

 

02500—American History I

This course examines events and issues in American history from Jamestown through the Civil War and Reconstruction.  Through reading, writing, and discussion, students develop an understanding of how and why the United States has become a diverse and ethnically rich nation.

 

02505—American History II

Prerequisite: Preferably American History 1                                                 

Course Length: 1 Semester

Credit: 5

 

This course examines events and issues in American history from the post-Reconstruction era to Watergate.  Through reading, writing, and discussion, students develop a further understanding of the history of our great nation as it enters the modern era and establishes itself as the leading nation in the world.

 

02485—Civics

This course explores the government of the United States and focuses on individual rights, how the U.S. government operates, checks and balances, political parties, individual branches of government, the U.S. Constitution, federalism, the electoral process, state and local government, and international relations.
